About the author

Even if the term "we" is used on the site, only one person is behind IPInfoDB ;) Let me introduce myself quickly, i'm a 27 years old web developper, sysadmin and university student from Quebec, Canada. I first got involved with open source thru OSCommerce a few year ago, since then i'm trying as much as I can to contribute in various ways such as this site, Blogama.org and soon to be CarbonPHP (nothing there for now), an open source PHP framework with a bunch of apps (CMS, forum, ecommerce). To pay the bills, I work part/full time for Portafixe as a web developper, sysadmin and advertising and I do little contracts here and there.

About IPInfoDB

I first created the IP location database for a project of mine that was never completed. It was first publicly posted on Blogama, my Linux howto website in February 09. After a few days I was starting to get alot of visitors so I decided to separate IP location related stuff to it's own domain, iplocationtools.com (RIP). At the beginning of June09, the website was transfered to ipinfodb.com to avoid problems with a company that had a trademark on a similar domain name.
